Veronika is a passionate environmentalist, urban enthusiast, community builder and lover of the outdoors. From a young age, Veronika’s experiences have been shaped by the people and connections within her communities and by spending countless hours outdoors. She works as UBC’s Student Sustainability Outreach Coordinator and is the Director of UBC’s largest student-run sustainability organization, Common Energy, through which she oversees the engagement of thousands of students in sustainability and behavioural change. She has a wealth of experience organizing events, campaigns and initiatives on different institutional scales, ranging from a Bottled Water Free campaign at her university and high school to founding the annual UBC Waste Audit. She also works with and helps facilitate the Metro Vancouver Youth4Action program which is a sustainability leadership program for high school students. Her passions first concretely developed in high school in the TREK Outdoor Education Program where she co-created and planned Plan-It Earth, a youth conference on urban sustainability, after which she gave a TEDx talk on urban sustainability in 2012. She is currently a student in the Faculty of Land & Food Systems at UBC.
